Jamaica has long been the preferred Caribbean destination for people going on vacation. For many, luxury hotels have always been the choice they choose because of the many amazing things they offer.
Though more high-end, these spots are favored because they offer unlimited food, liquor, non-motorized sports and quality entertainment for the entire family. When compared to more smaller hotel choices, the luxury options always come on top.
If you land in Jamaica, you’re likely to find these locations in the main tourist capitals such as Ocho Rios, Montego Bay or Negril. Kingston does have some luxury options, but they are mostly suited for business people rather than tourists or vacationers.
On doing some research on Trip Advisor, we found a list of luxury hotel choices. The Spa Retreat Hotel was listed as one of the top favorites because it offered the luxury experience at a relatively reasonable price. Others on the list included Jamaica Inn which has regularly ranked as a top choice for many years. Half Moon, Moon Palace, and Secrets resorts have also always been a popular choice amongst vacationers.
When thinking about ultimate luxury (I mean highest quality service, fabulous entertainment and “best-tasting” good jamaican food, Royalton White Sands Resorts comes to mind.
But let’s be honest, we have barely scratched the surface when it comes to the best hotels. For this reason, we often love to check out quality feedback and get good input before we make a decision. If you find yourself in such a position, we recommend you do like us and read top traveler reviews. The site we’ve found offers good sound advice to help you make the right decision.
They also have a YouTube channel with reviews (you may want to check that out at some point).
How Can You Get the Best Price for a Luxury Hotel?
Well, we’re glad you asked (fantastic question). We typically recommend that vacationers do their research. You can call up hotels and ask if they have any special discounts for a particular period. It has been found that during the summer, prices are slashed (this is the low peak season for hotels – not a lot of guests). Therefore you can benefit from the discounts on offer.
Another thing I’ve found useful is to check for deals on Gustazos or Hot Wire. At the time of this writing there are 3 great hotel deals available. It’s a good idea for you to sign up for their notification e-mail list so you can be advised whenever a new deal pops out.
Should You Consider a Smaller Option?
We leave that decision up to you. With smaller hotels, you benefit from lower prices (good to know if you’re on a tight budget). You’re also left on your own when it comes to food, entertainment, and water sports (these places may have little to none of those). You may chance upon a pool, but that’s about it. One place you can find inspiration on what to choose is here.
You should go for a smaller one if you’re looking to travel the island or spend lots of time on the road. So this option is perfect if you just need a place to crash for a few nights.
That’s about it. Our thoughts are written down on paper when it comes to luxury vs. small hotel options. We hope you make the right decision and enjoy everything your vacation has to offer. Jamaica is a beautiful country with loads to do and tons to see. Make the most out of it and ensure you make memories to last you forever. Take care.
